Baseball Recap: Butler Takes a Loss

Butler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 7-4 to the North Allegheny Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-1 loss last Wednesday.

Aaron Lunn was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Preston Richter was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nolan Stefaniak, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Butler's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for North Allegheny, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Butler and North Allegheny should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Golden Tornado will square off against Hempfield Area at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (54 vs. 312). Meanwhile, North Allegheny (ranked 40th) will meet Central Catholic (ranked 181st) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
