Softball Recap: Lodi Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Lodi had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Lincoln Trojans as they made off with a 16-9 win. The Flames might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Abby Schweigerdt made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Blank, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Arissa Torres, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Lodi kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They got seven more hits than Lincoln's also-impressive total of 11.

Lodi's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-14.

Lodi has already played their next contest, an 11-0 victory against Kimball on the 6th. As for Lincoln, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 4-3 win against St. Mary's on the 6th.
