Softball Recap: Holcomb Comes Up Short

Holcomb lost against Scott City back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hornets fell just short of the Rams by a score of 13-12. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chaytlin Hardcastle and Ella Jane Lemings stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hardcastle went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Lemings went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That triple was Hardcastle's first of the season.

Holcomb's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Scott City, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-17.

Coming up, Holcomb will face off against North Pemiscot at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.92 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. Scott City has already played their next matchup (against Scott County Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
