Baseball Recap: Army-Navy Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Crawford, Army-Navy was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the St. Joseph Academy Crusaders 6-5. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Ryke Broxson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mario Riquer, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Army-Navy is 2-1 when Riquer posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Eugenio Elorduy was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Army-Navy's record is now 4-9. As for St. Joseph Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Crusaders beat Army-Navy by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday.
