Baseball Recap: Racine Park Panthers vs. Racine Case Eagles
Racine Park had lost 16 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-12 to make it 17. They came up short against the Racine Case Eagles, falling 10-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-1 loss on Wednesday.
As for Racine Case, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.
For Racine Case's part, Chad Mortensen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Mortensen a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
