Baseball Game Preview: Sanger West Hornets vs. Sanger Apaches

The Sanger West Hornets will head out to face off against the Sanger Apaches at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sanger West is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over Edison on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Victor Valadez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aydan De Leon, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cesar Gonzalez, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Sanger West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Sanger came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Guardians, sneaking past 4-2. That's two games straight that the Apaches have won by exactly two runs.

Sanger West's record is now 3-10. As for Sanger, their record now sits at 10-6.
