Softball Recap: Mooreville Troopers vs. North Pontotoc Vikings
Mooreville fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against North Pontotoc on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 13-11. Even if the Troopers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Mackenzie Hankins made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbi Haynes, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
Mooreville dropped their record down to 2-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those home losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for North Pontotoc, their record is now 3-1.
