The Tygarts Valley Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Tygarts Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Webster County, taking the game 7-3. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Highlanders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Jaxon Drennen and Jacob Wamsley made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Drennen struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Wamsley pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Drennen gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Drennen went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Wamsley scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Drennen has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, Austin Teter was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Another player making a difference was Austin Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Tygarts Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Greater Beckley Christian sidestepped Summers County for a 6-5 victory.
Like Tygarts Valley, Greater Beckley Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Isaiah Lewis. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lewis was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Gunter, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Kaden Bolen was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Tygarts Valley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Greater Beckley Christian, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
