Recap: West Carteret Patriots vs. Havelock Rams
The West Carteret Patriots entered their tilt with the Havelock Rams with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. West Carteret walked away with a 39-31 victory over Havelock on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as West Carteret also won the last time the pair played back in January.
West Carteret's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ella Holmes led the charge by scoring 10 points along with 9 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sam Huber, who scored 9 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals.
Despite the loss, Havelock still got an impressive performance from Adaija Cypress, who scored 12 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. Cypress scored a full 38.7% of Havelock's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh George, who scored 8 points.
West Carteret's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Havelock, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
West Carteret will head out on the road to face off against East Carteret at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully East Carteret focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Tuesday. As for Havelock, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West Craven at 6:00 p.m. West Craven presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Havelock in North Carolina (West Craven is ranked 68th, while Havelock is ranked 366th).
