Basketball Game Preview: Westminster Wolves vs. Mountain Range Mustangs

Westminster is 0-3 against Mountain Range since December of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Westminster Wolves will face off against the Mountain Range Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Westminster easily dispatched Brighton on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Westminster fell just short of Boulder by a score of 40-37 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolves have suffered since January 23, 2024.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 70 points the game before, Mountain Range was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Riverdale Ridge and fell 98-17. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Ravens are ranked 23rd).

Liliana Jaramillo was Mountain Range's leading scorer, having posted six points. Josieraye Running Wolf held things down on the boards with 11 rebounds.

Mountain Range's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Westminster, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 12-10.

Westminster came up short against Mountain Range when the teams last played back in January, falling 47-43. Can Westminster avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
