After flying high against the Frankfort Redbirds last Saturday, the Hamilton County Foxes came back down to earth. Hamilton County received a tough blow on Monday as they fell 59-40 to Carmi-White County. While losing is never fun, Hamilton County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while Carmi-White County is ranked 164th).
Despite the defeat, Hamilton County had strong showings from Rayci Phelps, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds, and Kaylie Brake, who scored ten points along with two steals. Phelps has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played.
Hamilton County's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Carmi-White County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 23-4.
Hamilton County will head out on the road to face off against Woodlawn at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Woodlawn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Monday. As for Carmi-White County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Flora at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Flora is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
