Basketball Game Preview: Holmes Huskies vs. Marshall Rams

The Holmes Huskies will square off against the Marshall Rams at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 21 consecutive losses for Holmes and five for Marshall.

On Wednesday, Holmes lost to O'Connor on the road by a 62-47 margin. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 953rd, while the Panthers are ranked 165th).

Meanwhile, Marshall ended up a good deal behind O'Connor on Saturday and lost 52-34. The contest marked the Rams' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Holmes will have to keep a close watch on Jai Lopez and Jason Vidaurri, a pair of players who had a big impact on Marshall's prior game. Lopez went 6 for 15 en route to 16 points and eight boards, while Vidaurri dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Vidaurri a new career-high in boards.

Marshall's loss dropped their record down to 11-21. As for Holmes, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-29.
