Basketball Game Preview: Chase County Longhorns vs. Gothenburg Swedes

Chase County and Gothenburg are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Chase County Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Gothenburg Swedes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chase County has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 191 points over their last three matchups.

On Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Chase County beat Perkins County 58-54.

Meanwhile, Gothenburg fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Cozad on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Haymakers by a score of 62-59. The Swedes haven't had much luck with the Haymakers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Chase County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Gothenburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Chase County skirted past Gothenburg 52-50 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chase County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
