Baseball Game Preview: Seminole Chieftains vs. Harding Prep

For the second straight game, Seminole will face off against Harding Prep. The Chieftains will head out on the road to challenge Harding Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Seminole has five straight wins, Harding Prep has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Harding Prep's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Seminole hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Chieftains never let Harding Prep get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Monday.

Landon Bowling made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Seminole is 2-1 when Bowling posts eight or more strikeouts, but 4-11 otherwise. Bowling was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leo Zapata, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Recce Smith also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Seminole pushed their record up to 6-12 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Harding Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
