Basketball Game Preview: Blake Bears vs. St. Paul Academy-Summit Spartans

Blake is 9-1 against St. Paul Academy-Summit since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Blake Bears will square off against the St. Paul Academy-Summit Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Blake knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully St. Paul Academy-Summit likes a good challenge.

Blake is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Breck just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 81-68 to the Mustangs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bears came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Mustangs are ranked 85th).

Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for St. Paul Academy-Summit, as they earned their first road win of the season. They enjoyed a cozy 67-51 win over Mounds Park Academy on Tuesday.

The victory got St. Paul Academy-Summit back to even at 5-5. As for Blake, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Blake strolled past St. Paul Academy-Summit when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 76-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blake since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
