Basketball Game Preview: West Wendover Wolverines vs. Needles Mustangs

The West Wendover Wolverines will challenge the Needles Mustangs at 5:10 p.m. on Friday. West Wendover is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.5 points per game this season.

West Wendover heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Saturday. They took a 48-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Incline. The match marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

West Wendover's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Adryan Carlos, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards, and Estaban Correa, who went 7-for-17 on his way to 17 points. The contest was Correa's fourth in a row with at least 17 points.

Meanwhile, Needles put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lincoln County 88-41. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 22 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Needles' victory bumped their record up to 30-0. As for West Wendover, their loss dropped their record down to 24-5.

West Wendover ended up a good deal behind Needles in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 74-60. Can West Wendover avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
