Softball Game Preview: Clinton-Massie Falcons vs. Batavia Bulldogs

For the first time this season, Clinton-Massie will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to square off against the Batavia Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Clinton-Massie will be strutting in after a win while Batavia will be coming in after a defeat.

Clinton-Massie's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Shelby Valley 16-0.

Ava Crombie made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Crombie was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Clinton-Massie let Alyssa Sandlin and Sydney Doyle run wild. Sandlin went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Doyle went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Sandlin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylie Green, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Batavia lost 16-3 to Goshen on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Batavia's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Clinton-Massie, the victory got them back to even at 1-1-1.

Clinton-Massie might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Batavia in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
