Softball Recap: Vermilion Comes Up Short

Vermilion managed to slip by St. Joseph Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Sailors came up short against the Jaguars on Thursday, falling 17-5. The defeat leaves the Sailors still looking for their first win of the season.

Abby Gawry and Sarah Beck did some serious damage despite the final result: Gawry went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Beck went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That run marked the first that Beck has scored this season.

Vermilion's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for St. Joseph Academy, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-8.

Vermilion didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 15-12 defeat against Port Clinton on the 23rd. As for St. Joseph Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-1 loss against Strongsville on the 21st.
