Basketball Game Preview: Wright City Wildcats vs. Veritas Christian Academy Eagles

The Wright City Wildcats will take on the Veritas Christian Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Tuesday, Wright City lost to North Callaway at home by a 56-41 margin. The Wildcats have struggled against the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Veritas Christian Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost 75-53 to Elsberry last Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since January 19, 2024.

Wright City will have to keep a close watch on Luke Niemeyer and Jake Markham, a pair of players who had a big impact on Veritas Christian Academy's prior game. Niemeyer went 9-for-14 to rack up 23 points, while Markham went 6-for-14 on his way to 15 points. Markham continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Uriah Reardon, who posted six points in addition to ten rebounds and three blocks.

Wright City's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Veritas Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.

Everything came up roses for Wright City against Veritas Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 59-32 win.
