Basketball Recap: Wren Gets the Win

Wren won the last time they faced Travelers Rest, and Ava O'shields did her part to make sure it happened again. The Wren Hurricanes walked away with a 54-44 victory over the Travelers Rest Devildogs on Tuesday for which the team can thank O'shields, who posted 21 points and four steals. Her big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 21 points.

Another player making a difference was Keyana West, who put up ten points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in December of 2024.

Travelers Rest's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mabry Mullis, who had 12 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Crain, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Wren's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Travelers Rest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-11 record this season.

Wren didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 90-36 loss against South Pointe on the 21st. Travelers Rest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
