Baseball Recap: Canterbury Victorious

Canterbury proved they can win big last Monday (they won by eight) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Keswick Christian 1-0. The one-run effort marked Canterbury's lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Gabriel Blaxberg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over 6.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Blaxberg wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ian Robinson, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Canterbury now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Keswick Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

Coming up, Canterbury will face off against Lakeside Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Keswick Christian, they will take on IMG Academy Navy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
