Baseball Recap: New Albany Gets the Win

After losing to Floyd Central the last time they met, New Albany decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bulldogs walked away with a 7-3 win over the Highlanders on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly four runs.

Sean Rose tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kadin Bush, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Rand, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for New Albany and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Floyd Central, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Coming up, New Albany will face off against Jasper at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Floyd Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Xavier at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Highlanders 4, the Tigers 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
