Soccer Game Preview: Bishop McGuinness vs. Elkin

The Bishop McGuinness Villains will face off against the Elkin Buckin' Elks on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bishop McGuinness comes in on eight and Elkin on three.

Bishop McGuinness is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Leadership Academy a 7-0 shutout. Considering Bishop McGuinness have won 14 contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Elkin sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over NCSSM: Morganton on Thursday.

Bishop McGuinness pushed their record up to 21-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 60 goals over those nine matches. As for Elkin, their win bumped their record up to 14-5-3.

Everything went Bishop McGuinness' way against Elkin in their previous matchup back in May of 2017, as Bishop McGuinness made off with an 8-1 victory. Will the Villains repeat their success, or do the Buckin' Elks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
