Basketball Game Preview: Granville Blue Aces vs. Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies

Granville and Johnstown-Monroe are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Granville Blue Aces will head out to challenge the Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Granville sitting on eight straight victories and Johnstown-Monroe on six.

Last Friday, Granville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Zanesville, but they still walked away with a 50-46 win. Given the Blue Aces' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 404th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Johnstown-Monroe didn't have too much trouble with London on Sunday as they won 51-34.

Johnstown-Monroe is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for Granville, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Granville beat Johnstown-Monroe 55-43 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Granville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
