Baseball Recap: Trinity Gets the Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Trinity faced off against Lovelady on Monday. The Tigers came out on top against the Lions by a score of 13-9. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered an 18-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Austin Beasley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, David Alexander was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Jace Gambill was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

The win got Trinity back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Trinity will be taking part in a tournament against Big Sandy at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lovelady, they will square off against Snook at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
