Basketball Recap: Thibodaux Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Thibodaux challenged Lafayette on Friday. The Tigers took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Lions are ranked 15th).

Thibodaux has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Lafayette, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Thibodaux and Lafayette will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Tigers see the court they'll take on Jesuit at 5:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Lafayette, their break will end when they face LaGrange at 4:00 p.m. on the 30th.
