Softball Recap: Marathon Wins Going Away Against Edgar

Marathon lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Edgar, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's match. The Red Raiders put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-2 victory on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Red Raiders needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Allison Podjaski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Mayven Schneider was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Brinly Stencil, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Marathon now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Edgar, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Marathon is set to take on their familiar foe Stratford at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Edgar will face off against rival Assumption at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
