Basketball Game Preview: East Burke Cavaliers vs. Newton-Conover Red Devils

The East Burke Cavaliers will venture away from home to challenge the Newton-Conover Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Burke knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Newton-Conover likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, East Burke came up short against Bandys and fell 77-65. The loss continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Newton-Conover played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Lincolnton 71-43. Newton-Conover's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for East Burke, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.

East Burke came up short against Newton-Conover in their previous matchup on January 7th, falling 60-56. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Newton-Conover's Braxton Eckard, who went 10 of 22 en route to 32 points and eight rebounds.
