Basketball Recap: Eastside Takes a Loss

Eastside was the 36-30 winner over Williston when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The contest between the Eastside Rams and the Williston Red Devils didn't end well, with the Eastside Rams falling 58-40. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Red Devils are ranked 20th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Williston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tiona Wilkinson, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaelynn Brown, who earned 13 points and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Eastside and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Williston, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.

Eastside will be playing in front of their home fans against Orange Park at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Orange Park has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Williston, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Williston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season.
