Preview: Mooresville Pioneers vs. Perry Meridian Falcons
Mooresville has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Perry Meridian Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mooresville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Mooresville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 24 points or more this season. They breezed by Terre Haute North Vigo at home to the tune of 60-16. Given Mooresville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Terre Haute North Vigo is ranked 338th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ava Shafer and Rachel Harshman were among the main playmakers for Mooresville as the former scored 14 points along with 3 steals and the latter scored 18 points along with 6 rebounds. Shafer continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Mcginley, who scored 5 points along with 6 steals.
Meanwhile, Perry Meridian came up short against Beech Grove on Tuesday and fell 52-40. Perry Meridian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mooresville's win lifted them to 7-2 while Terre Haute North Vigo's loss dropped them down to 1-8.
Everything came up roses for Mooresville against Perry Meridian when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 61-26 victory. Will Mooresville repeat their success, or does Perry Meridian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
