Baseball Game Preview: Elk Lake Warriors vs. Tunkhannock Tigers

The Elk Lake Warriors will face off against the Tunkhannock Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Elk Lake blew Towanda out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Towanda got their revenge. Elk Lake fell just short of Towanda by a score of 9-7. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Black Knights 4-0 in the first period.

Devin Lawrence and Dawson Sherman stepped up to the plate in a big way. Lawrence went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Sherman scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Alden Felker was another key player, getting four hits from his four at bats.

Even though they lost, Elk Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Towanda only posted a batting average of .226.

Meanwhile, Tunkhannock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Montrose, falling 32-14.

Josiah Parr was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Kaleta, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Tunkhannock's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Elk Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
