Shorecrest Prep suffers 17th straight loss on the road

Recap: Shorecrest Prep Chargers vs. Countryside Cougars

This season hasn't been kind to the Shorecrest Prep Chargers, who are still winless after their 11th match. They took a serious blow against Countryside on Friday, falling 49-13. While losing is never fun, Shorecrest Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 617th, while Countryside is ranked 174th).

Ally Wright continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Countryside, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Wright has scored at least a third of Countryside's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Fernandez, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.

Shorecrest Prep bumped their record down to 0-11 with that defeat, which was their 17th straight on the road. As for Countryside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Shorecrest Prep will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against St. Petersburg Catholic at 6:00 p.m. St. Petersburg Catholic will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Countryside, Countryside and Hollins will face off at 7:45 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hollins is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
