Softball Game Preview: Cross Lanes Christian Warriors vs. Montcalm Generals

The Cross Lanes Christian Warriors will head out to challenge the Montcalm Generals at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Cross Lanes Christian's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.

Cross Lanes Christian barely beat Van the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors blew past the Bulldogs 13-2 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.

Cassidy Witt was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Cross Lanes Christian let Izzy Harper and Jenna Naramore run wild. Harper went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Naramore went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Naramore has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Ellison, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Cross Lanes Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Van only posted an OBP of .217.

Montcalm came out on top against Van on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Generals walked away with a 10-6 win over the Bulldogs. The victory was some much needed relief for the Generals as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-7. As for Cross Lanes Christian, their record now sits at 7-5.
