Basketball Game Preview: Acalanes Dons vs. Benicia Panthers

The Acalanes Dons will challenge the Benicia Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Acalanes will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Clayton Valley Charter, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Acalanes snuck past Clayton Valley Charter with a 40-35 win on Thursday. The score was all tied up 22-22 at the break, but the Dons were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Benicia, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They strolled past Campolindo with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 57-43. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while the Cougars are ranked 89th).

Benicia has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Acalanes, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
