Baseball Recap: Braeden Casey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Christian over Mira Mesa

Christian had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 12-7 to make it five. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (3-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 25, 2024.

Landan (LJ) Rook was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Christian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braeden Casey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Mira Mesa, their record is now 8-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 21st.

On Mira Mesa's side, they got a great performance from Dylan Pham as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Pham has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ziggy Avinion was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Khalil Graham, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

While Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
