Softball Recap: Coventry Starts Season with Victory Against Westerly

Coventry gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with an 11-7 win over the Westerly Bulldogs. The Oakers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Leah Lapham was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Emily Spadoni, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Looking ahead, Coventry will venture away from home to challenge Chariho at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Westerly, they have already played their next match, a 10-6 defeat against Cranston West on the 8th.
