Recap: Volcano Vista Hawks vs. Rio Rancho Rams
On Friday, The Volcano Vista Hawks faced the Rio Rancho Rams in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Volcano Vista fell 24-17 to Rio Rancho. The victory was familiar territory for Volcano Vista who now have four in a row.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alijah (A-Train) Gonzales, who rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown.
Rio Rancho's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jj Arellano led the charge by rushing for 30 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 148 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayce Ramirez, who gained 113 total yards and a touchdown.
Volcano Vista is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Rio Rancho, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Volcano Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Rio Rancho also has no future games currently scheduled.
