Volleyball Recap: Gate City Comes Up Short

Gate City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Central Wise Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-0 loss last Thursday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-15, 25-15.

Cacey McDavid paced Gate City's offense, picking up nine kills. McDavid got some help from Sophie Webb and her 17 assists. Finally, Emma Belmonte and Nora Estep kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked three attacks.

Gate City's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Central Wise, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-7.

As of now, neither Gate City nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
