Baseball Recap: Palatka Comes Up Short

Palatka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Keystone Heights Indians. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 8-0 to the Indians when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Paxton Sweat was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Morgan Wiggs also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Palatka's record is now 4-7. As for Keystone Heights, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Palatka will challenge Father Lopez at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Keystone Heights, they will take on Oakleaf at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Keystone Heights is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
