Volleyball Game Preview: Athens Hornets vs. Lindale Eagles

Athens hasn't had much luck against Lindale recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hornets will head out to challenge the Eagles at 6:00 p.m.

On Friday, Athens came up short against Brownsboro and fell 3-1.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 21-25, 25-14, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Lindale got the win against Kemp on Friday by a conclusive 3-0. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Lindale was: they took every set by at least 18 points. The final score came out to 25-2, 25-7, 25-5.

Athens better keep an eye on Macy Luster. She was instrumental in Lindale's win, getting 18 assists and five aces. That's the most aces Luster has posted since back in October of 2024. Libbie McHam also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Lindale was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 21 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Athens' loss dropped their record down to 14-19. As for Lindale, their record now sits at 26-13.

Athens might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Lindale when the teams last played back in September. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
