Football Recap: Klondike Piles Up the Points Against Irion County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Klondike). They breezed past the Irion County Hornets to the tune of 88-6 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Hornets are ranked 149th).

Klondike's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 46.9 points thus far. As for Irion County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, after each having a week off, Klondike and Dawson will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on the 10th. The matchup will give the Cougars their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Irion County, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 60-12 loss against May on the 3rd.
