Softball Recap: Mulberry Grove Has No Trouble Against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City

While Mulberry Grove put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City. The Aces blew past the Bobcats 13-0. The Aces haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Lily Johnson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Mulberry Grove got a big performance out of Taylor Stone, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Jenni Mezo was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Mulberry Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City only posted an OBP of .167.

Mulberry Grove's record is now 9-5. As for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, Mulberry Grove and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City will both be playing Martinsville the next time they take the field. The Bobcats will head out to face the Bluestreaks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Aces will play them later in the day, at 12:30 p.m.
