DeKalb waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with a 65-53 win over the Metea Valley Mustangs. Given the Barbs' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Mustangs are ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

DeKalb pushed their record up to 23-6 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points over those games. As for Metea Valley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-12.

Coming up, DeKalb will be playing at home against Waubonsie Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Waubonsie Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully DeKalb likes a good challenge. As for Metea Valley, they will take on Prospect at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
