Volleyball Recap: La Jolla Country Day Victorious

La Jolla Country Day had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Mt. Carmel Sundevils. That's more bragging rights for the Torreys, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Calin Schneider paced La Jolla Country Day's offense, picking up seven kills. Schneider got some help from Alice Burgett and her 18 assists. Calli Efthimos controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Mt. Carmel's loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coincidentally, La Jolla Country Day and Mt. Carmel will both be playing La Costa Canyon the next time they take the court. The Torreys will head out to face the Mavericks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Sundevils will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
