Softball Recap: Reeds Spring Triumphs

Reeds Spring's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Sparta Trojans 6-4.

Camirin Lee made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, Alexa Weber was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That run was her first of the season. Grace Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Reeds Spring hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win got Reeds Spring back to even at 5-5. As for Sparta, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Reeds Spring didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-6 defeat against Forsyth on the 12th. As for Sparta, they will welcome Hartville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
