Softball Recap: Jamestown Finds Playoff Glory Versus Corry

It's playoff time, and Jamestown had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Corry Beavers a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-1 back in April.

The result came thanks to Miranda Biles's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jamestown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camilla Cox, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Another was Kinlie Kirila, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Jamestown is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Corry, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4.

Coming up, Jamestown will take on Northwestern on Thursday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Muskies surely won't give up without a fight. Corry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
