After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rochester, Lewis Cass was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Whitko Wildcats 48-13. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.

Gavin Smith was his usual excellent self, rushing for 118 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also picking up 39 receiving yards. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Julian Davidson, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Lewis Cass didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Whitko to a completion percentage of just 38.5%. The Kings have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.61 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.61 in their last three games.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Lewis Cass, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Davidson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Despite the defeat, Whitko saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mason Hersha rushed for 113 yards and one TD while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Those 113 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Hersha.

Lewis Cass pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.8 points over those games.
