Softball Recap: Phillips Comes Up Short

Phillips came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Athens Bluejays by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. The Loggers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bluejays apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Annaka Tobias spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Phillips saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaylan Meyer, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Phillips and nudges their season record down to 12-8. As for Athens, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

While Phillips had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
