League recap: Homewood extends winning streak with victory over Talladega

5A Region 4 recap October 29, 2013

Homewood added to the longest winning streak in 5A Region 4 this week by beating Talladega, 66-0. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.

Sylacauga made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,526 from 4,739. The improvement was largely due to a 35-0 victory over Shelby County last week.

Victor Jerald was a passing and rushing force as Briarwood Christian beat John Carroll Catholic. Jerald's key target this week was Justin Hild, who caught 2 passes for 62 yards.

Trenton Bishop threw for 159 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 5-11 with 1 interception.

Bishop put up the best numbers in passing as Chilton County bested Ramsay.

Homewood's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Patriots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Carson Griffis has thrown for 1,061 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Devonte Wallace has 20 catches for 432 yards.
