Baseball Recap: Grafton Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

Grafton took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Wachusett Regional, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Gators narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Mountaineers 2-0. Two seems to be a good number for the Gators as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Chris Kiesiner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Kiesiner wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was C.J. Chagnon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. Those three hits gave Chagnon a new career-high.

Grafton's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Wachusett Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grafton will square off against Southbridge at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wachusett Regional, they will take on Catholic Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
